YNAB's Export Plan produces a register file and a plan file. Budgetfold reads both: every transaction with its account, payee, category, memo and cleared state, and every month's assigned amounts, so "what did I budget for groceries in March" survives the move.
Full importer for both files. Export steps checked on support.ynab.com ("Export Plan Data"), 9 September 2026. Export is web-only and does not include targets or category notes; that is YNAB's limit, not ours.

YNAB is $109 a year or $14.99 a month (ynab.com/pricing, 9 September 2026); it was $84 a year in 2020. Budgetfold runs the same zero-based method for $39 a year or $4.99 a month, and the free plan covers the current month with 2 accounts and 100 transactions. What YNAB has that Budgetfold does not: bank feeds, loan planner, the reports tab. What Budgetfold has: no bank credentials anywhere, any currency, a subscription tracker with a price-change log, and export in the same shape you imported.
Your transactions land in the register with their accounts and categories. Open the current month, move Ready to assign into categories until it reads zero, and the envelopes start working from today. Press Find recurring charges on Bills & subscriptions and Budgetfold proposes your subscriptions from the history, with renewal dates and yearly cost. Everything you import can be exported again as a zip of CSVs at any time, on every plan.
